For the first time since ICU was founded in August 1989 in Tonder, Denmark, there will be a new organization applying for membership. Our colleagues in Hungary have established a new Trade Union in late 2014 → Kéményseprők 
Országos Szakszervezete (KOSZ). In one year they have gotten more than 450 members to their new Trade Union.


We are very pleased with what our Hungarian friends have successfully done the last 18 months and we are looking forward to deepen our cooperation.
 
Right now our friends in Hungary are struggling with the nationalization of the chimney sweep profession starting 1. July 2016. The authorities  have announced new rules regarding inspection of heating systems which will lead to a situation where half of today’s chimney sweeps will become unemployed.
 
We want to express our support to our Hungarian colleagues and follow with great interest their difficulties .
